New Ideas, New Directions

What does a church look like? As we hear from one of our classic hymns, We Are the Church: “The church is not a building, the church is not a steeple, the church is not a resting place, the church is a people” (UMH #558). Those four phrases convey a basic truth of who and what the church is supposed to be: a people, incarnating the Body of Christ.

All too often, we forget that. “Church” becomes an institution, or just a building, or something else that is frozen and focused inwardly. We know that the church is supposed to be something living and growing, reaching out to help transform the world. The church is a people – with a mission!

Our consultants have dealt with churches of all sizes, with different approaches, and different understandings of who and what they are called to do. We have connected with those churches as part of the congregation, or as pastor, or as coach, or as researcher. Because of those experiences, we have a treasure trove of ideas! From ministry within the walls of the church, to ideas about connecting with the local community, to ways to become part of global movements, we have been witnesses to amazing church vitality, and we would love to come and share those with you.
